Pele, Goddess of Volcanoes

Handmade from sterling silver and 18k gold, the Pele necklace shows the goddess covered in hibiscus flowers, the national flower of her native Hawai'i.  Her body is carved from a recycled piano key, and her features delicately scrimshawed by hand.  The necklace is reversible - showing the stone on the back - and beaded with black sapphires and turquoise.  Pele still lives in the beliefs of her people as the goddess of fire and passion; she reminds us that upheavals in life are followed by new beginnings and change.  She measures 2" x 0.9".

Each goddess necklace is signed on the bottom by the artist, with an easy-to-use sterling silver and gemstone box clasp.  The standard beading length is 19" but can be strung to any length.
